Economy Car Hire top of Which? car hire brokers survey once again!

4th March 2015

Consumer body Which? have published their annual review on car hire. We are very pleased that for the third year running, we have been rated top car hire broker.

More than 2,000 participants contributed. Once again, our clarity of pricing and overall rental experience was rated highly by Which? members. View more information about the 2013 and 2014 Which? car hire reports too.

In November 2014, Which? asked its members to complete an online survey. They had to rate their car hire experiences in the last 12 months. 2,747 people responded to this survey. When rating companies, members were asked about the clarity of the final price, the description matching reality and overall satisfaction. When looking at brokers, respondents were asked about the clarity of the final price and overall satisfaction of the supplier that provided the car.

What does this year’s report contain?

This year’s report focusses on the issues of fuel policy and additional insurances.

Fuel policy

The 2015 report states that picking up the car full of fuel and returning it full is usually the cheapest option, followed by returning the car with the same level of fuel.

Top tip

We make it clear when a supplier operates a fair fuel policy. This is marked in green on the quote results page. You can also read the fuel policy for each rental by clicking on the Show Rental Conditions link found underneath each vehicle, under the heading Fuel Policy.

Additional insurance

The report also analyses insurance coverage. It explains that whilst most rentals include collision damage waiver, an excess is usually applicable.

Top tip

Our prices always include collision damage waiver with either no insurance excess, or excess reimbursement insurance.

Remember

Damage to the wheels, glass parts and underside of the vehicle are not covered by collision damage waiver. Which? advise that additional insurance should be purchased before you travel to cover these items.

We offer top-up insurance for £2.50 per rental day. This protects against damage to the uninsured parts of the vehicle. Simply pay the supplier for the damage and claim it back upon your return home.

If you would like to add top-up insurance to an existing booking, simply log into My Account. Click on the reference number of the booking that you wish to add insurance too, then click on the add top-up insurance link.
